It all started with the Brownlow red carpet.
Stylist to the stars Lana Wilkinson always knew the right dress for her WAG clients.
She instinctively picked just what jewellery would work, what hair and make up to match, what bag to accessorise.
But then came the shoes.
Just like Cinderalla, Wilkinson needed a shoe to fit.
Only problem was she could never find the right pair to match her perfectionist and high expectations.
So she created her own.
The savvy stylist turned designer first named her collection of stilettos after her star clients she would dress for the red carpet — there was a Bec, a Nadia a Brit, a Jordan.
Launching just before Covid, her eponymous label is now taking on the world.
A recent trip to New York Fashion Week with her longtime friend Bec Judd and Wilkinson was pressing the flesh with all the right contacts thanks to her black book network of fashion friends she has worked with over the journey, including designer Rebecca Vallance who is making waves in the US.
A New York minute later and Wilkinson’s stylish, chic, yet comfy and affordable heels, will soon be in department stores across America.
Not a bad effort four years in the making.
But first Wilkinson’s brand will be hot footing to Sydney to conquer Australian Fashion Week, partnering with designer and friend Michael Lo Sordo for what is being dubbed the epic runway show of the week.
If last year’s AFW runway was anything to go by, the Lo Sordo show will be oozing with sizzling sex and feminine appeal, we hear a Parisian underground feel, and is known as the show everyone wants to be seen at and a place to party after.
Fellow Melburnian Chris Kontos is helping style the show, as Wilkinson continues her fairytale moment (with an added sprinkle of side hustle and hard work to get there).
“Partnering with Michael Lo Sordo for Australian Fashion Week marks a significant milestone for the brand and is a dream come true for me and my team,” Wilkinson said.
“This collaboration feels effortless, yet extremely impactful and together the runway looks tell a story of glamour and creativity that I’m very proud to be a part of. The partnership is an exciting opportunity for the brand to reach new heights of recognition and success within the fashion industry and I couldn’t be more excited for Tuesday night.”
