Logies scandals: The tawdry tales behind TV’s night of nights

Page 13 can’t resist spilling the tea on some tawdry tales of “TV’s night of nights” past.

Back before everyone carried an iPhone and documented every move and sashay on social media, the parties were loose and the talent looser.

How about the one where ACA host Tracy Grimshaw got caught in a hotel hallway in the buff?

Initially blaming drinking tequila shots with James Packer until the wee hours, the award-winning journo later divulged she had mistakenly (albeit drunkenly) taken the hallway door for the bathroom door back in 1998.

“I locked myself out of my hotel room starkers. It was 3.45am and there was no one in the hallway,” Grimshaw explained almost two decades later.

“I realised that the guest opposite had The Australian delivered. Thank god it was a broadsheet and not the Herald Sun!”

Or the one about Kylie Minogue returning to her homeland to present the Gold Logie in 2014, some 20 years after receiving the coveted statue.

Our pop princess was bombarded by hopeful male talent at the official after-party at Shane Warne’s Club 23 at Crown.

Fun fact: Andy Lee was among those to give it a crack with the I Should Be So Lucky star, but to no avail.

Or then there was the kids TV musical group who took their name a little too literally in the toilets.

Love has also played out backstage: Who can forget crooner Michael Buble meeting UK actor Emily Blunt back in 2005 when they were presenters and starting a three-year, long-distance romance?

Chris Noth reportedly tried to get frisky with Stephanie Macintosh in 2006.

Or there was Chris Noth aka Mr Big trying to get frisky (the #metoo movement was not even in embryonic stage) while trying his wiles on our Neighbours starlet Stefanie McIntosh, again to no avail.

Lauren Phillips brother Bo still bristles at any talk of the altercation with Wolf Creek’s wild-eyed actor Mal Kennard after being “knocked out” at the Logies after-party in 2016.

What about rock stars asking the media to source them coke and ecstasy in the early hours and actors so drunk they had to get lifted out of the male urinals?
