THE brother of departed gangster Mario Condello has been charged over his refusal to remove a shed that Yarra council says is on its land.
Enzo Condello believes the land at the back of his family home in North Fitzroy is his, but he’s been given notice the council plans to reinstate a former lane on which the shed was built.
He has attempted to have the shed heritage listed, claiming it was a “war room’’ where the Carlton Crew hatched its plans.

But more than a year on, he has been charged with restricting the use of the lane without a permit.
But he doesn’t intend to shred the shed, which features books and pictures of the family, including his infamous brother.
Enzo, a playwright, says he is facing large fines or even jail time.
“I think I deserve to keep the shed because its been there for 40 or 50 years,’’ he said. “It’s part of the family. My father said he bought it, even though I can’t find the title. I feel I would at least have adverse possession.
“I’m going to fight city hall all the way, like they did in Chicago.’’
Condello says police found a loaded gun under the shed while looking for a “hit list’’ in the 1980s.
