Eye-watering cost of property mogul Tim Gurner’s Toorak Saint Haven club

Even personal lockers, an overnight washing service and Bentley airport chauffeurs can’t convince the Toorak rich to join the eye-wateringly expensive new health club of property mogul Tim Gurner.

Despite all the hype, even our Toorak toffs are baulking at the astronomical fees to join Tim Gurner’s flashy new gym in the Village.

A so-called select few of those in the blue-chip ‘burb were offered an early-bird price for an exclusive membership to the Saint Haven club.

“It was something like $500 to $1000 per week,” an astonished flashy type who was propositioned told Page 13.

“I run the Tan every morning for free, no one should be buying that, it’s a gym for god sake,”

But Gurner claims the wait list has more than 15,000 people on it.

We think the property mogul has added a bit of mayo to his avocado toast here.

Gurner, you may recall, has made plenty of headlines across the journey, gaining notoriety for a widely-mocked rant in 2017 about millennials being unable to afford homes because they buy avocado toast.

Last year, he again didn’t read the room when with slicked-back hair and an unbuttoned crisp white business shirt he sat on a property panel to declare: “We need to see pain in the economy.”

Cue global backlash.

Gurner later apologised for his “deeply insensitive” comments.

But one thing the Saint Moritz property developer can do is talk the hype or hype the talk.

Buoyed by the success of his first health club in Collingwood, the latest branch of his signature health club is considered a perfect fit for richlister Larry Kestelman’s luxury Capitol Grand Tower in South Yarra

Meanwhile, his 3142 gym can be found in the recently completed St Germain building fronting the Toorak Village.

It will be the first Saint Haven club offering only top-tier memberships, with an investment into reverse-ageing technology in a nod to the suburb’s demographics.

Personal lockers for members’ favourite organic fragrances, an overnight washing service and Bentley airport chauffeur service aside, those shrewd with their money say they declined the offer because it was, well, “frightfully ostentatious and quite simply ridiculous.”
