While some former footy players struggle with relevance deprivation after their careers finish others have become successful entrepreneurs with the Midas touch.
Former Collingwood captain and premiership hero Nick Maxwell is firmly in the latter camp, with his most recent foray in the world of architecture and design in a post-Covid world.
Maxwell this week opened Eclat, a members only exclusive and flexible workplace for private offices and catered meeting spaces in leafy Camberwell Junction as we transition back from the home.
“We are neither simply a flexible workspace nor a serviced office provider. Eclat stands alone in the global market as collaborative co-working environment with a focus on exceptional design, comfort and culture,” Maxwell said. Sure it sounds like a mouthful, but it is just what corporates are looking for rather than doling out huge rents and leases on bricks and mortar offices.
But you can’t take the AFL out of a footy star.
One of Eclat’s first events will be on Saturday hosting the Pies 12-year premiership reunion with former prez Eddie McGuire and coach Mick Malthouse attending alongside premiership players Dane Swan, Scott Pendlebury, Alan Didak, Heath Shaw and Dale Thomas.
Watch out Camberwell.
