Newsreader Candice Wyatt says she shared her story of living in constant foot pain so other people with similar conditions knew they were not alone.
“For anyone struggling with a foot injury or pain - I see you and feel everything you feel,” she posted on Instagram, in relation to a message from someone who also suffered from foot pain.
“Messages like this are the EXACT reason I shared my story,” she said.
Wyatt earlier moved to reassure the public she was “not going to cut her foot off”, following a shock post in which she said she had “considered amputation” when diagnosed with a mystery foot ailment that was causing her relentless pain.
But after being “overwhelmed” by hundreds of messages of sympathy regarding her ailment, she took to Instagram a second time to say: “I am not about to cut my foot off — I’m currently taking it out for wine with friends”.
The glamorous Channel 10 personality revealed on Friday she had been suffering for the past month physically and mentally after injuring her foot at home.
After numerous scans and medical opinions she was finally diagnosed with sesamoiditis, which she says is not curable but can be managed.
Wyatt also revealed she had a “third sesamoid bone” which is abnormal given you should only have two, with surgery to correct the problem an option.
“I’ve lived on crutches for the past four weeks. I crawl in and out of the shower and I can’t
do my normal job as a journalist,” Wyatt posted.
“My social life has been shot to s--t and I am exhausted from my mobility issues.
“I’m so totally out of whack and struggling to see a future through the fog.
“I’ve considered amputation. I’m terrified of the unknown and what I will and won’t be able to do physically once a solution is found.
“I miss my old life.”
