Nick Riewoldt’s post-Celebrity MasterChef confession

Footy champion Nick Riewoldt says he’s copped the ultimate sledge since winning Celebrity MasterChef last year.

Football champion and reality TV star Nick Riewoldt says he is no fake winner.

The former St Kilda forward kicked goals in the kitchen to win Celebrity MasterChef in the November finale.

“I do feel like a little bit of a fraud,’’ Riewoldt said.

“I’ve got mates that think I’m absolutely full of it — I’ve known them for 20 years and never cooked for them.

“But getting all that feedback it’s absolutely reignited my passion for it. I’ve been way more active in the kitchen and I’m loving it.

“I find it therapeutic and an enjoyable experience. You can’t help but want to keep the momentum going. It was so much fun and such a fun thing to be a part of. It’s a life essential, you’ve got eat and it’s nice to do it properly.”

Riewoldt has returned to Melbourne after three months in Texas with his wife Catherine’s family. He said it gave him great joy to cook with his three sons while visiting his family in Tasmania.

He is back in the spotlight for the next three weeks filling in for James Brayshaw on Triple M’s The Rush Hour with Billy Brownless.

“You just know bottom line it’s going to be fun and it doesn’t feel like work,’’ said Riewoldt, a Fox Footy commentator.

“I’m pumped, super excited. It’s such a good time to be doing it because there’s so much happening.

“I’ve got to remember it’s Bill’s show and I’m just there to steer the ship as much as I humanly can. Bill is the star and I’m excited.

“There’s an opportunity to have fun and show your personality and that’s what I enjoyed about getting into the media. Football from a playing point of view was always so serious but it’s allowed me to show another side to me as well.”
