New Kirby’s Extra Epic Yarn the perfect game for the whole family

Kirby’s Extra Epic Yarn is the perfect game to introduce the next generation to this classic character who’s been around since 1992, and is arguably more powerful than Thanos and Shaggy.

You might remember playing Kirby’s Epic Yarn the first time when it came out on Wii in 2011.

Back then it felt special, like a precious gift of innocent creativity, and also a little bit like it was trying to capitalise on the popularity of Little Big Planet.

Now that it’s back on 3DS, people who didn’t get it the first time around have the chance to fall in love with this beautifully crafted game as the rest of us did.

Because we often remember things as being better than they actually were, This Extra version of Kirby’s Epic Yarn is pretty much exactly how you remember it.

Kirby’s been sucked into a world made entirely from yarn, buttons and zippers, and while his current woolly form won’t allow him to suck in his enemies, he can remake himself into a car, or use a yarn lasso to pull apart his foes.

As well as battling the minions of the evil, caped sorcerer that transported him into patch land, he can collect little bits and pieces to decorate his room, which you can then share via street pass.

Aside from the street pass addition, other improvements present in this port include ravel abilities, a super difficult “devilish” mode, mini-games, amiibos, and a larger furniture allowance due to tech improvements.

It’s now only a single player game, but that’s a worthy trade-off.

Kirby fans will be enamoured with all this port has to offer, and adults will love it.

But it’s also the perfect game to introduce the next generation to this classic character who’s been around since 1992, and is arguably more powerful than Thanos and Shaggy.

Bottom line: This is one of the most adorable platforming games in a long time, and my heart is fuller for having played it.
