WHAT in the world do you get Taylor Swift as a thank you present?
That was the dilemma facing Vance Joy after he supported the US singer during her 1989 tour in Australia earlier this month.
So the 28-year-old singer turned to Ken Done, once of Australia’s most iconic artists to help him out, commissioning him to produce a one-of-a-kind piece for the 25-year-old pop star.
Done produced one of his classic Sydney works, with a few special touches just for Taylor, including her name emblazoned across the Harbour Bridge.
Done and Vance Joy agreed that $20,000 would be donated to UNICEF Australia in lieu of payment.
“Ken is a much-loved Ambassador and supporter of UNICEF Australia,” UNICEF Australia Fundraising Director Michael Newsome said. “Not only is one of his iconic works in the hands of one of the world’s top recording and performing artists, it’s gone on to give back to the world’s most vulnerable children, thanks to the generosity of Ken and another Aussie favourite, Vance Joy,” Mr Newsome said.
The Riptide singer presented Swift with the artwork before she went on stage for the final concert of her 1989 tour in Melbourne on December 12.
