THE Dixie Chicks will tour Australia for the first time in more than 10 years next March.
The Grammy-winning superstar country-pop trio, who were this month announced as headliner for the CMC Rocks QLD Festival, will also bring their acclaimed MMXVII World Tour to arenas in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth.
The outspoken trio, whose hits include, Goodbye Earl, Not Ready To Make Nice and Wide Open Spaces, will play Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney on March 29, before heading to Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena on Saturday April 1 and finish the tour at the Perth Arena on Wednesday April 5. Tickets will go on sale on Wednesday October 26.
The Dixie Chicks have sold more than 30 million albums and won 17 Grammy Awards, but haven’t released an album since 2006’s Taking the Long Way.
In the intervening years, lead singer Natalie Maines released the 2013 solo album, Mother, and sisters Emily Strayer and Martie Maguire released two albums as The Courtyard Hounds.
The tour has been earning rave reviews and selling out arenas in the US and Europe since it kicked off in June, but the band told the New York Times earlier this year that new music is “not on the agenda.”
