Dua Lipa was in the mood to party at her sold-out Sydney concert after a New York judge dismissed a copyright lawsuit against her 2021 hit “Levitating.”

The pop superstar declared it a “good day” for her multi-billion streaming smash at her penultimate Radical Optimism show in Australia at Qudos Bank Arena on Friday.

A New York judge threw out the case brought by L. Russell Brown and Sandy Linzer who alleged Lipa’s hit shared its “signature melody” with their 1979 disco song “Wiggle and Giggle All Night” and another track “Don Diablo.”

“This is a really good day for this motherf...ing song,” she said before launching into “Levitating.”

Lipa continued to her tribute to great Aussie music which saw her bring out surprise guests Troye Sivan and Vance Joy at her Melbourne concerts last weekend.

Sydney fans at her Friday gig were treated to a guest appearance from Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker who Lipa told the crowd is one of her “favourite” artists, worked with her on the Radical Optimism record, to sing his hit “The Less I Know The Better.”

The concert is a dazzling mash-up of Vegas showgirl and disco nightclub, propelled by tracks from her third record and an enviable setlist of bangers including “Love Again” and her Calvin Harris hit “One Kiss.”

One of the show’s highlights was Break My Heart which was credited as a co-write with INXS because its distinctive guitar hook bears similarities to the Aussie band’s Need You Tonight.

The show opener Training Season kicked of sounding like a Bond theme before kicking into disco gear.

Her big concert moments inevitably recall pop diva pioneers with “Maria” giving off Madonna “La Isla Bonita” vibes and “Electricity” tipping its hat to Kylie Minogue.

There were many new young fans seeing her for the first time and like at the recent Billie Eilish shows, they used their licence to scream to its full effect. Where else can you let loose with an ear-piercing yell and get away with it but a concert?

Lipa discovered how much her music has meant to people when she stepped into the audience during the show.

She embraced one fan wearing a shark suit to huge cheers who shared with the capacity crowd how her music had saved him from a dark place.

“Thank you for the joy and everything you put into the world,” he told her before handing over the faux fox stole she sports for her centre stage set.
