Aussie Swifties stay up late trawling for most in-demand looks for Eras Tour

With the concert less than a week away, Swifties have turned to the internet and her albums for inspiration, with data revealing the most popular outfits.

Your guide to Taylor Swift's Aussie Eras Tour

Desperate Swifties are taking inspiration from the pop sensation’s last album by burning the midnight oil to pull together themed outfits for the Eras Tour.

With the concert less than a week away, fans have turned to the internet for inspiration, with Google Trend data revealing that the peak time for outfit trawling on Friday was 4am.

The sleepless nights have fans channelling Swift’s 10th album, Midnights, which saw the popster keeping fans up until the early hours of the morning with track title announcements in a social media series coined “Midnights Mayhem With Me” back in 2022.

Some of the most popular searches have been taken over by boots, Lover inspired outfits, and cowboy-themed pieces such as denim.

Australian Retailers Association (ARA) Chief Executive Officer Paul Zahra said retailers are being overwhelmed with “Swift Mania”.

Mr Zahra said denim has had the biggest level of interest as fans channel looks from Swift’s first few country albums.

“Music and fashion have always worked hand-in-hand, and denim is particularly timeless. It’s classic,” Mr Zahra said.

Google searches for “Taylor Swift Outfits” peak between two and four in the morning, according to Google Trend data.

Being a fashion staple, Mr Zahra said retailers have been able to respond to the denim demand fairly quickly, unlike the release of the Barbie movie last year.

“(Barbie) was an absolute juggernaut in merchandise … a lot of retailers were caught short,” he said.

“In this case consumers are looking for that denim cowboy look … We know that some retailers have been saying that while this hasn’t caught them by surprise, they’ve certainly been overwhelmed with customer demand.”

H&M is one of the most popular brands being sought out, with a H&M spokesperson also noticing a country theme.

“A popular trend coming through has been western. Fringe cowboy boots and cowboy style hats have been among the key pieces mixed with staples like denim and leather look to elevate the outfit, inspired by Taylor’s country roots,” the spokesperson said.

eBay has also seen the country craze, with sales for cowboy hats up by 45 per cent.

“We’ve seen demand for some of Taylor Swift’s most iconic accessories sported by the singer increase as Taylor Swift-mania sweeps Australia,” eBay spokesperson Emma Lowde said.

“We’ve even seen sales of heart-shaped sunglasses and cowboy hats up.”

With Swift’s tour expected to bring in millions of dollars for the Australian economy, Mr Zahra said Australia needs more international acts to visit.

“What it does to lift people’s spirits, and the excitement of going to an event for such a major celebrity like Taylor Swift,” he said.

“But also the impact it has on the fashion, hospitality and travel industries – all those things work beautifully in reviving the economy.”
