Artist who sold more concert tickets than Taylor Swift during Australian tour in 2024 revealed

Taylor Swift was not the artist who sold the most concert tickets to Aussie fans in 2024 with another mega pop star taking the crown.

In numbers: Taylor Swift's record-breaking Eras tour wraps

Believe it or not, Taylor Swift was not the artist who sold the most concert tickets to Aussie fans when she brought her smash-hit Eras Tour Down Under earlier this year.

As it turns out, Pink – who was touring our shores at the same time – claimed box office victory with the powerhouse singer and her high-flying acrobatics soaring past one million in Aussie ticket sales for her Summer Carnival Tour.

In comparison, Swift’s shows – promoted by Frontier Touring – sold a total of 620,000 tickets during its Australian leg in February.

Pink – real name Alecia Moore – also toured here in February and March and sold out 20 stadiums nationally, which promoter Live Nation said is “the most performed by any artist in Australia on a single tour”.

“There is a palpable mutual love affair between the Australasian audience that love seeing her perform live, and an artist who clearly loves being here,” Live Nation Australasia chairman Michael Coppel told the Herald Sun.

“Congratulations, Alecia, on yet another stunning record-breaking tour.”

To be fair, Swift only performed a total of seven shows in Sydney and Melbourne, with only 620,000 fans lucky enough to score tickets among the four million people who tried to buy tickets when they were first released in June 2023.

Venue-wise, Pink impressively packed out four shows at Marvel Stadium that can hold a capacity of 70,000 concertgoers, while Swift played three sold-out shows at the MCG.

While the iconic MCG has a capacity of 100,024, Swift’s set design meant not all the grandstands could be used, therefore only 96,000 fans could fit inside the venue.

Still, that number proved to be monumental in her career.

“If I seem a little bit like I’m losing my mind over the fact that there are 96,000 people here tonight … it’s because it’s true. This is the biggest show that we have done on this tour, or any tour, ever,” Swift, who has won 14 Grammys in her career, told the crowd at the time.

“I’m fully starstruck by the fact so many people wanted to hang out with us on a Friday night in Melbourne!”

To date, Pink sold a whopping 3.1 million tickets in Australia and New Zealand during all of her six tours in the region – and she couldn’t thank fans enough.

“We’ve grown up together over the last 20 years. And we’ve danced, laughed, screamed and cried together, too. You’ve always been there for me, but this week I learned just how great your support has been,” the three-time Grammy Award winner wrote on Instagram back in March has her tour was coming to an end.

“The ticket sales for the #SummerCarnivalTour are the biggest for any tour by a female artist in Australia. Nobody else has ever played 20 stadium shows across Australia and New Zealand in a single tour, but we just did it together on the Summer Carnival Tour.

“We’ve sold over 3.1 million tickets during six tours here – that’s the most career ticket sales ever achieved by an international performer in Australia and New Zealand.

“I’m not often lost for words, but you really did it to me this week. Your support is never lost on me and it’s a privilege to do this with you every day. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Here’s to another 20 years together.’
