THINK the new Taylor Swift single Look What You Made Me Do sounds familiar?

The track includes a co-writing credit for UK band Right Said Fred’s 1991 novelty hit I’m Too Sexy.

It’s technically an ‘interpolation’ rather than a sample, which means it doesn’t use the original track but borrows and reworks some of it.

Savvy listeners are also wondering if there’s an official sample of Operate by cult electro act Peaches.

It’s a windfall for Right Said Fred, who are still touring and recording, and smart business move by Swift to head off any potential lawsuit.

The Peaches influence is in the electro undercurrent of parts of the song, produced by Swift and Jack Antonoff of Bleachers.

Operate featured on Peaches’ 2003 album Fatherf----- - that’ll be an interesting one for Swift’s younger fans to investigate. The album’s cover features Peaches (Canadian artist Merrill Nisker) with a beard.

Peaches’ most popular songs include F--- the Pain Away and Shake Your Dix and she once released an album called Impeach My Bush. Her most recent album, Rub, came out two years ago.

The I’m Too Sexy nod is there when you listen, especially in the chorus - and it’s enough to get the UK band’s members (brothers Fred and Richard Fairbrass and Rob Nazoli) a lucrative writing credit.

Right Said Fred released a song called Sexy Bum in 2009 and are due to release a new album this year called Exactly - they are now a duo.

Swift has got on the front foot - Ed Sheeran added the writers of TLC’s No Scrubs to the credits of his global hit Shape of You after the song had already topped the charts. The British singer presumably wanted to avoid a possible lawsuit.

I’m Too Sexy reached No.1 in Australia and the US, but only No.2 in the UK. While the trio are considered one-hit wonders in most parts of the world, they actually scored a No.1 in the US with their third single Deeply Dippy, which peaked at No.38 in Australia.

Antonoff, who came to fame as one third of Fun (We Are Young), co-wrote Out of the Woods and I Wish You Would on Swift’s album 1989 as well as the recent Swift/Zayn Malik duet I Don’t Wanna Live Forever.

They met through Antonoff’s partner and Swift’s friend Lena Dunham.

Antonoff was also the creative partner for Lorde on her new album Melodrama.
