Taylor Swift slams rumours she’ll quit music after Travis Kelce marriage

Taylor Swift has fired back at rumours surrounding her post-marriage career, declaring her future husband, Travis Kelce, “loves what I do”.

‘Her best yet' Fans lose it over Taylor Swift’s new music video

Taylor Swift has shut down the speculation that “The Life of a Showgirl” will be her final album, given she’s getting married to Travis Kelce.

“That’s a shockingly offensive thing to say,” Swift told BBC Radio 2 host Scott Mills, who brought up fans worrying she’s going to stop making music after she marries the NFL star.

“It’s not why people get married, so they can quit their job,” she added in the interview.

“I think the fans were just panicking,” Mills told the Grammy Award winner, who acknowledged that the Swifties “love to panic sometimes.”

Swift added, “It’s like, I love the person that I am with because he loves what I do, and he loves how much I am fulfilled by making art and making music.”

The “Opalite” singer, who put out her latest album on Friday, also explained how Kelce, 36, supports her career.

“That’s the coolest thing about Travis; he’s so passionate about what he does that me being passionate about what I do, it connects,” she said. “There’s no point in time where he’s gonna be like, ‘I’m really upset that you’re still making music.’ Imagine [him saying], ‘The music that I signed up for, that I knew you love, I thought you were going to stop doing that.’”

“It just is the most fun thing in the world to support each other, and the polarity of how different our jobs are,” she continued about her relationship with the Kansas City Chiefs tight end. “But there’s a lot of similarities, too.”

“We both as a living, as a job, as a passion, perform for three and a half hours in NFL stadiums. We both do three and a half-hour shows to entertain people,” Swift noted. “For him, it’s practice; for me, it’s rehearsal. For him, it’s a game; for me, it’s a show. We just call them different things. We both have teams. It’s a very similar thing.”

Swift announced her engagement to the football star on Aug. 26. The lovebirds shared photos of Kelce down on one knee and Swift with a large, shiny engagement ring in a colourful garden.

The billionaire songwriter teased the pair’s wedding plans when she appeared on “The Graham Norton Show” on Friday to promote her album.

“You’ll know,” Swift said. “I want to do the album stuff first, and the wedding is what happens after in terms of planning.”

“I think it will be fun to plan,” she added.

Some of Swift’s songs on her new 12-track album appear to reference Kelce, including “The Fate of Ophelia,” “Opalite,” “Eldest Daughter,” “Wi$h Li$t” and “Wood.”

FANS LOSE IT OVER NEW TAYLOR VIDEO

Earlier, Swift dropped the official video for “The Fate of Ophelia” and the lyric videos for all 11 remaining tracks from her highly-anticipated new album The Life of a Showgirl.

In the video for “Ophelia”, directed by Swift, the global star reunites with her Eras Tour crew in a number of elaborate costumes and settings.

Swift transforms from classic showgirl with Marilyn Monroe-style platinum-blond hair to a 60s’ brunette go-go dancer and an Esther Williams-style bathing beauty in a Busby Berkeley/MGM musicals tableau.

The Ophelia video clocked nearly 470,000 views within 24 minutes of its premiere on YouTube.

“I am in AWE of how they built the sets and all the dancers and the costumes,” one fan said.

Another commented: “This might be her best mv yet, the visuals, the choreography, the storytelling, the wigs everything is so on point and when you say you can’t be amazed this woman just does it again.”

Others were delighted to see Swift bring back the Eras Tour dancers.

“The video is amazing but can we talk about the fact she brought the Eras Tour dancers to be a part of it? They were literally there with her on tour when she and Travis started, when he went on stage, when she changed the Karma lyrics, and now are here when she’s singing about him changing her heart’s faith. That’s so lovely (heart flame emojis).”

US fans got context into the video for Fate of Ophelia during a first look in US theatres nationwide on the weekend.

“The idea I came up with for this music video was sort of a journey throughout all these different ways in which over time periods, historically, you could be a showgirl,” Swift said after premiering the video in the theatrical presentation.

“Like, how you would be in the public eye back during the 1800s, when you’d sit for a Pre-Raphaelite painting. Or you could be a showgirl by being a cabaret burlesque club performer. You could be a theatrical actor putting on a performance. You could a Vegas showgirl. You could be one of the girls in the Busby Berkeley screen-siren era of the ‘30s and ‘40s. You could be a pop singer on the Eras Tour.”

She said she was particularly excited abut the “Ophelia” video because “we got everybody back together from the Eras Tour”.

“All of the performers that you saw on that stage are back in this music video, as well as so many of the people who worked behind the scenes to create the Eras Tour.”

TAYLOR REVEALS MORE ABOUT HER MARRIAGE PLANS

Swift revealed more details about how she made her latest album, and her upcoming wedding after getting engaged to Travis Kelce.

The pop star, who appeared on The Graham Norton Show, gushed about her “hardware upgrade” in reference to her engagement ring, which she showed off after Norton asked about the “new bit of finger jewellery”.

She also revealed more about how Kelce proposed in the back garden of his house while they recorded an episode of his New Heights podcast.

“We had filmed a podcast episode and we filmed the podcast for about three or four hours, meanwhile behind his house he was having the back garden turned into this,” she said.

“He really crushed it when it came to surprising me,” she said, as she looked at the image of them she posted on Instagram of the moment they got engaged.

“And one of the things that he put in there very strategically was a wall of hedges that weren’t there before, and inside the hedges was my tour photographer hiding,” Swift said.

“He went all out. Ten out of 10. It’s really fun that we have the exact moment.”

For now, she said her priority was The Life of a Showgirl album, not wedding plans. She described the album as a “secret passion project” she wrote while on the Eras Tour in Europe.

“No, I just am doing the album thing now which is a big thing and I think the wedding is what happens after, in the scheme of the planning,” she said.

“I’m so excited about it, I’m just like, I know it’s gonna to be fun to plan, because I think the only stressful weddings are when you have a small amount and people are on the bubble,

and you have to evaluate or assess your relationship with them to see if they should be there.

“I’m not going to do that.”

While drinking a glass of white wine, Swift told of how she wrote songs for her 12th album on the “craziest schedule”.

“I was more physically exhausted than usual because it was a three and a half-hour show, it’s all in heels,” she said.

“I was starting to get sick and worn down and so I thought I really need something to spark up my imagination and creativity and hopefully that will fuel my physical exhaustion, and it did.” She said it stopped her from hitting “a wall”.

Swift also talked about her new song Opalite, which is her father and fiance’s favourite song.

“It’s basically, I become obsessed with certain phrases and words … just like they can do man-made diamonds, you can do man-made opals and its called opalite,” she said.

“I just thought that was just such an interesting metaphor. If you take it and you apply it to the fact often times in life we have to make our own happiness.

“It’s not just there, it’s not just naturally in place, we just have to make our own happiness and get through life, and it says ‘You had to make your own sunshine but now the sky is opalite’.

“And it’s like you are happy because you did that on your own.”

Norton suggested it was about faking your happiness and she replied: “Exactly fake it till you make it, I do that all the time!”

She also mentioned there were different poems on each variant of her vinyl record but stopped short of saying what they meant.

“I’m not going to tell about that … but they’ll figure that out, there’s something about the poems that’s fun,” she hinted.

Swift also said the Eras Tour had given her more confidence with writing music, and said it was “the loveliest time”.

“I wanted to over deliver and for people to get more than they expected,” she said.

She added the friendship bracelets were “a sweet thing” fans did on their own.

“We didn’t market this, otherwise I would have invested in beads!” she joked.

Swift also reflected on how “pissed off” she was when her music was “sold out from under her” before she bought it all back.

She said her mother and brother went in to bat for her, and she credits them with helping to get her music back.

Swift is set to appear on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and Late Night with Seth Meyers this week.
