Oasis scraps contentious ticket dynamic pricing for North America

The English rockers have shaken up their tickets for their North American shows after outcry from UK fans – and Aussie diehards will be hoping it flows on.

Oasis to bring reunion tour to Australia

Oasis have scrapped the contentious ticket dynamic pricing which angered UK fans for their North American shows.

The reunited rockers earlier this week revealed five Oasis Live ‘25 stadium concerts in Toronto, Chicago, New Jersey, Los Angeles and Mexico in August and September.

A statement on the band’s social media channels yesterday reassured fans the Ticketmaster dynamic pricing scheme which inflated some ticket prices during the box office sale for the UK and Ireland shows would not go ahead for the North American gigs.

“Ticketmaster’s dynamic pricing model will not be applied to the forthcoming sale of tickets to Oasis concerts in North America,” the group’s management announced.

“It is widely accepted that dynamic pricing remains a useful tool to combat ticket touting and keep prices for a significant proportion of fans lower than the market rate and thus more affordable.”

The team behind Noel and Liam Gallagher’s much-anticipated reunion tour said the scheme was “less effective” when huge demand challenged the capabilities of technology.

“...when unprecedented ticket demand (where the entire tour could be sold many times over at the moment tickets go on sale) is combined with technology that cannot cope with that demand, (dynamic pricing) becomes less effective and can lead to an unacceptable experience for fans,” the statement continued.

“We have made this decision for the North American tour to hopefully avoid a repeat of the issues fans in the UK and Ireland experienced recently.”

The band’s Australian fans will be hoping they are given the same treatment when Oasis reveal their tour dates and venues in Sydney and Melbourne in coming weeks.

UPDATE ON OASIS AUSSIE TOUR PLANS

English rockers Oasis are expected to announce their Australian tour dates within the next two weeks with stadium shows in Sydney and Melbourne.

The reunion of Noel and Liam Gallagher for the Oasis Live 25 world tour, 15 years after the warring brothers imploded the band, was announced in August to coincide with the 30th anniversary of their debut album Definitely Maybe.

The initial run of 19 shows in UK and Ireland ignited a ticket war to rival the Taylor Swift Eras tour, with fans flooding social media with complaints about accessing the online sale via Ticketmaster and dynamic pricing for some tickets.

After years of the pair trading sledges, they have cooled their sibling rivalry for a reported payday of almost $100 million. Each.

When Oasis announced the first dates, they shot down speculation in the British media that they would also be gracing the Glastonbury festival stage next year.

“Despite media speculation, Oasis will not be playing Glastonbury 2025 or any other festivals next year,” the band posted on their social media channels.

“The only way to see the band perform will be on their Oasis Live ‘25 World Tour.”

A press release fanned fan fires outside of the UK, stating “plans are underway for OASIS LIVE 25 to go to other continents outside of Europe later next year.”

And now British music magazine NME has leaked the other locations the band have booked shows in the US, South America, Asia and Australia.

Like many international bands heading to Australia in the next year, the band will perform in just the two major capital cities of Sydney and Melbourne.

As their local promoter is expected to be Live Nation Australia, it is likely the venues will be those controlled by the concert operator’s ticketing arm Ticketmaster.

Live Nation tours by Pearl Jam and Green Day are being staged in Marvel Stadium in Melbourne and ENGIE Stadium in Sydney.

Oasis finishes up their UK leg at Wembley Stadium on September 28.

According to NME’s leaked list of cities, if the running order of the rest of the world concerts is correct, the band would go to the US and Mexico first, then Asia, Australia and South America, so the earliest we would see them here would be in November.

The Australian shows have been the talk of the live music industry with sources suggesting the announcement may happen around October 8.
