Katy Perry strips off again for latest music video

Katy Perry’s latest music video is perhaps her most extreme yet, with bizarre scenes of the star strapped to the hood of a car with her legs open.

Katy Perry just dropped the music video to the third taster from her upcoming album 143 – and it might just be the most extreme one yet.

The slinky dance tune I’m His, He’s Mine, a collaboration with rapper Doechii that samples Crystal Waters’ 90s dance classic Gypsy Woman, was released on Friday ahead of 143’s release next week.

Perry had previewed the track at this week’s MTV VMAs as part of a career-spanning medley to pick up her Video Vanguard Award.

The accompanying music video shows the star in a variety of high-octane set-ups, including falling through the sky to earth holding on tightly to a man.

In the video’s most bizarre scene, Perry is shown on the hood of a car speeding down a highway, holding on for dear life – while opening her legs to the sky.

The video ends with Perry and the unknown man laying in the middle of the road, sharing a steamy kiss.

The I’m His, He’s Mine video certainly continues the theme of Perry’s pop comeback thus far: the first video from the campaign, for divisive single Woman’s World, showed her strutting through streets in nothing but a tiny white crocheted G-string bikini. In the follow-up clip, for last month’s single Lifetimes, she frolicked on beaches on the Spanish islands of Ibiza and Formentera … in nothing but a tiny G-string bikini.

Perry’s new music has so far been met with a muted response from her fanbase: Woman’s World didn’t scrape the top 40 in most major markets, while Lifetimes failed to chart at all. The star appeared to make reference to the backlash she’d been facing in her Video Vanguard speech at Thursday’s VMAs.

“There are no decade-long accidents,” she said pointedly, referring to her musical career.

“I’ve heard a lot of, ‘Do this, don’t say that. Wear less, wear more. Now, hey, don’t cut your hair.’ One of the biggest reasons I’m standing here right now is I learned how to block out all the noise that every single artist in this industry has to constantly fight against, especially women.”

Perry’s album 143 will be released next Friday – and she’ll be in Australia later this month, booked as the headlining entertainer at the AFL Grand Final on September 28.
