Grammys hater Drake made a shock appearance to collect his Best Rap Song and hate on the Grammys — but fans were upset when he was abruptly cut off.

Grammys hater Drake made a shock appearance to collect his Best Rap Song and hate on the Grammys.

Drake hasn’t been a fan of the awards for several years because he believes his music should be nominated in pop categories rather than rap.

The Canadian artist didn’t attend two years ago when he was nominated for eight awards and his mega smash Hotline Bling won Best Rap Song and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration.

“I’m a black artist, I’m apparently a rapper, even though Hotline Bling is not a rap song,” Drake said after the 2017 Grammys.

“The only category that they can manage to fit me in is in a rap category, maybe because I’ve rapped in the past or because I’m black.”

He didn’t walk the Grammys red carpet this year, turned down an invitation to perform and emerged from backstage when the biggest streaming hit of 2018 God’s Plan was named the Best Rap Song.

He joked this was the first time in Grammys history where “I am actually who I thought I was,” as he accepted the rap gong.

Drake then went on to cancel the Grammys, telling emerging artists and children with dreams of a music career they don’t need awards.

“We play in an opinion-based sport, not a factual-based sport,” he said.

“The point is, you’ve already won if you have people who are singing your songs word for word, if you’re a hero in your hometown.

“Look, if there’s people who have regular jobs who are coming out in the rain and snow, spending money to buy tickets to your shows, you don’t need this right here. You already won.”

His speech was cut off towards it end, suggesting the Grammys also tried to cancel Drake.

God’s Plan is also up for Record of the Year, one of the Grammys’ big awards so he may get another chance to shade the awards.
