Bruce Springsteen has revealed why he has changed his prices ahead of his Australian tour amid Taylor Swift’s Ticketmaster fiasco.

Springsteen demands vaccinated-only audience

Bruce Springsteen has defended his sky-high ticket prices as he prepares to tour Australia next year.

The rock legend is using Ticketmaster’s dynamic pricing model to sell tickets for his US tour, which allows for extreme inflation based on demand, The New York Post reports.

Fans in the US were outraged when floor seats for his 2023 US tour were being sold for up to $7000 each.

Tickets have not yet gone on sale for Springsteen’s tour of Australia and New Zealand in the summer of 2023/24.

The music legend told Rolling Stone he had changed his pricing model so that he was in line with his musical peers.

“What I do is a very simple thing. I tell my guys, ‘Go out and see what everybody else is doing. Let’s charge a little less.’ That’s generally the directions,” he said.

“They go out and set it up. For the past 49 years or however long we’ve been playing, we’ve pretty much been out there under market value. I’ve enjoyed that. It’s been great for the fans.

“This time I told them, ‘Hey, we’re 73 years old. The guys are there. I want to do what everybody else is doing, my peers.’ So that’s what happened. That’s what they did.”

Springsteen said most of his tickets were “totally affordable” and quipped that fans could ask for their money back on the way out if they weren’t happy.

“They’re in that affordable range. We have those tickets that are going to go for that (higher) price somewhere anyway.

“The ticket broker or someone is going to be taking that money. I’m going, ‘Hey, why shouldn’t that money go to the guys that are going to be up there sweating three hours a night for it?’” he told Rolling Stone.

It comes amid criticism over Ticketmaster’s handling in the US of the presale for Taylor Swift’s upcoming Eras Tour.

More than 14 million fans flocked to its website last week, causing huge waits before the

the company cancelled its general public ticket sale.

Swift has blamed Ticketmaster for the debacle after the firm allegedly told her camp repeatedly that it could handle the intense demand.
