Billie Eilish has been hit by an object thrown by a fan while performing on stage - ironically during a concert on her ‘Hit Me Hard and Soft’ tour.
At her latest concert at Arizona’s Desert Diamond Arena, theBirds of a Feathersinger was struck in the face by a necklace, presumably thrown by a fan.
The 22-year-old singer was sitting cross-legged at the edge of the stage when she was hit mid-word during her performance of her softly-sung ballad What Was I Made For?
In footage uploaded to X from fans attending the concert, there were audible sounds of disapproval as Eilish was hit.
Clips of the moment show Eilish freezing and giving an annoyed expression but not pausing her performance.
The singer was then seen picking the necklace up and tossing it off stage.
There has been an outpouring of condemnation from fans on X.
“You can tell that pissed her off, why do people try to ruin everything?” one person said.
Another fan wrote, “I don’t know why fans do this to artists on tour. It’s wrong and dumb behaviour.”
Other fans took a lighter approach, with one saying, “At least we know she sings live.”
“I personally think throwing things on stage can be fun and lead to great interaction but it’s always up to the artist,” another fan said.
Numerous other singers have also experienced being hit by items thrown by fans.
Earlier this year, country singer Zach Bryan stopped his show in Washington DC when a fan threw an object onto the stage.
In 2023, Harry Styles was hit in the eye by a tossed rose, Cardi B had a drink hurled at her, and Bebe Rexha was taken to hospital after a cell phone hit her in the face.
Consensus among performers is that the trend needs to stop.
In a 2023 interview at the Los Angeles Barbie premiere, Eilish told a reporter, “I’ve been getting hit on stage with things for like, literally six years.”
“Don’t throw things on stage, but we love you; it’s very sweet,” she said.
