Security is so tight on the hugely anticipated, secrecy-shrouded Avengers: Endgame that even its stars don’t know what it’s about.
With the April 24 release less than two weeks away for what’s tipped to be the biggest movie opening of all time, its high profile cast hasn’t yet seen the superhero blockbuster, or even know how their characters fit into the story.

Directors Joe and Anthony Russo revealed that only one copy of the complete script exists on a single iPad and actors including Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson and Aussie Chris Hemsworth were only shown parts of it on a need-to-know basis to avoid spoilers leaking.
Speaking at a press conference in Korea, Oscar-winner Brie Larson, whose Captain Marvel recently broke the US$1 billion barrier, said she wasn’t fully aware of what she was doing while shooting the sequel to last year’s Infinity War.
That movie made $2.9 billion at the box office but also had one of the most controversial movie endings ever made, when half of the superheroes were killed off.
“I still haven’t seen the film so I don’t know what kind of role I play in it,” Larson said of Endgame.
“And I am very grateful about not having seen it so I don’t have to worry about spoiling it — but I honestly have no idea what’s going on.”
Endgame is being pitched as the culmination of the 21 movies so far in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and is widely tipped to be the last time the original six Avengers — Downey Jr (Iron Man), Evans (Captain America), Hemsworth (Thor), Johansson (Black Widow), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), and Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye) — will be seen on screen together.
Renner said the bond between the actors was so strong that all with the exception of Ruffalo recently got matching tattoos of the number six.
“There have been some very pivotal moments for me in my life that included all of them,” he said.
“We got tattoos to represent what that friendship means and what that bond is and that’s the most wonderful takeaway from these 21 movies.
“They are lifelong friendships and there is nothing more lasting or more powerful than the love I have for them.”
Joe Russo said Hemsworth was one of the most talented and versatile actors around and that it had been a joy to work with him outside the MCU on the upcoming Netflix thriller Dhaka.
“He’s amazing. He’s somebody that we are very close to and we love working with,” he said. “He encapsulates the hardest thing there is to capture as an actor, which is being able to play drama and being able to play emotion, but also mix it seamlessly with humour.”
