Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell team up for Spirited

If there are two stars you definitely want in an all-singing, all-dancing Christmas musical, it’s Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell.

We’re almost at that time of the year when the holiday spirit hits all the streaming platforms hard.

They know audiences are primed for tales of wily Santas and cabin-based romances, so there’s no shortage of Christmas movies to quell the Grinch.

One of the higher-profile offerings this year is Spirited, a star-studded musical with Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell. The first trailer just dropped and it looks like an absolute hoot.

A modern-day adaptation of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, the story features Reynolds as Clint Briggs (an updated Ebenezer Scrooge type), a suited corporate dude with a corner office and a cocky attitude.

When the Ghost of Christmas Present (Ferrell) picks Clint as this season’s dark soul to redeem, he may have chosen the wrong target. The wily Clint turns the tables on Present, and now the spectre is examining his own past actions – there’s nothing like a little reflecting and soul searching.

The purportedly twist on this version of A Christmas Carol is that the story is told from the perspective of the ghosts, and it’s an all-singing, all-dancing musical.

The movie is directed by Sean Anders (Daddy’s Home, Instant Family) and Benji Pasek and Justin Paul (La La Land) have written the songs.

It also stars Octavia Spender, Sunita Mani, Patrick Page and Aimee Carrero.
