And you can tell everybody, these are your songs
What’s all this, then?
Rocketman returning for a second dip in cinemas so soon? Seems a bit rich, doesn’t it?
Not in this particular case. This here’s a special ‘Sing-Along Version,’ where those who know and love the rich back catalogue of Elton John can let rip with their own harmonious interpretations of each and every song on the soundtrack.
Think of it as a killer karaoke session at your local cinema, with the lyrics flashed across the bottom of screen for added accuracy and melodic gusto.
While the movie doesn’t really pass muster as a biopic, the simple fact it crams 23 choice cuts into its running time means it will never be too long until you can next break into song.
If you have never been to a Sing-Along session of a movie musical before - there have been similar limited-release runs for the likes of The Greatest Showman, Bohemian Rhapsody and Frozen - then you really are in for something special.
The beauty of these sessions is how they preserve a safe space for those who might normally be reticent to warble out loud.
Everybody is there for the same reason, and the vibe in the cinema - especially if you are part of a packed house - is infectiously uplifting.
Rocketman: The Sing-Along Version opens in select cinemas from today, peaking in wide release this Saturday and Sunday only.
