SUCH a shame Oscars season is already over — we’re sure this soon-to-be-released film would’ve swept the pool.
The past 12 months have already seen the release of instant trash cinema classics Sharknado, Avalanche Shark and Zombeavers. Now there’s another so-bad-it’s-good flick to add to the list: Airplane vs. Volcano.
Set for release in the US at the end of this month, the quality slice of cinema features expositional lines of dialogue like: “I think a submerged volcanic shelf has surfaced!” and “What is that? Oh my god. That’s a volcano!”
The finer details of the plot aren’t revealed in the 90-second trailer, which devotes much of its time to showcasing fire and lava effects that look like they came from a Windows screensaver circa 1997.
From what we can gather though, the film focuses on an unsuspecting airplane full of passengers – one of whom is played by ‘90s heart throb Dean Cain of Lois and Clark fame – who find their plane in the path of a newly-active volcano.
What’s that you say? ‘Why not just fly away from the volcano?’ Well, there wouldn’t be much of a movie if they did that, not would there.
The film also stars the ex Mrs Mike Tyson, actress Robin Givens. In 2009, Givens was sued for unpaid federal income taxes totalling $292,000 –—we’re sure that has nothing to do with her decision to star in this top-shelf production.
