Few movies have premiered to such controversy as Don’t Worry Darling. Amid the chaos, however, supporting actors Nick Kroll and Sydney Chandler have managed to find some humour in rejection.

Rolling up in the same car for the movie premiere at the Venice Film Festival, Kroll and Chandler recorded film fans as they peeked in the windows, hoping to get a glimpse of the movie’s leading stars.

The pair laughed as fans quickly realised they were neither Harry Styles or Florence Pugh and lose interest.

“I’m not who you want ladies,” Kroll can be heard saying with a laugh, while Chandler can heard saying: “sorry”.

“Not Harry, not Olivia, not Florence,” Kroll continues.

“Just Nick and Syd,” says Chandler. “You won’t know, but we’re pretty cool.”

“Yeah,” agrees Kroll, “You won’t know, but I promise you, in very certain circles, we’re sort of …”

“The faces of quiet disappointment,” interrupts Chandler, speaking about the fans as they realise these are not the actors they came for.

Premiere controversy

In case you somehow missed it, the relationships between Don’t Worry Darling’s stars have somewhat overshadowed the movie itself.

With director Olivia Wilde and lead actors Styles and Pugh refusing to interact, to Styles possibly having spat on co-star Chris Pine, to Styles’ awkward interview rambling about how it “feels like a real movie” and his very public rejection of Wilde on the red carpet even though the two were rumoured to be dating, many are calling for a behind the scenes documentary because it seems more exciting than the actual film.
