Julia Roberts’ shocking salary for Mother’s Day

THE 48-year-old only had to work on the new Mother’s Day movie for four days, but she was certainly generously rewarded for her time.

JULIA Roberts was paid a whopping $979,000 for each day of work on her latest film, Mother’s Day.

According to Variety, the 48-year-old raked in $3.9 million in total for her supporting role in the film which took her just four days to shoot.

This isn’t the first time Roberts has made headlines for an obscene salary.

In 2000 the actress was paid $US20 million for starring in Erin Brockovich and in 2010 she pocketed $US3 million for six minutes of screen time in Valentine’s Day.

But whereas those films were quite successful, it doesn’t look like the same will be said for Mother’s Day which also stars Jennifer Aniston, Kate Hudson and Jason Sudeikis.

The feel-good film made just $10.8 million in the US on its opening weekend and the reviews have been less than positive.

The Detroit News wrote that “Mother’s Day is not a tribute to mothers. It’s an insult to everyone.”

Entertainment Weekly wrote, “If you love your mother, do not make her see this movie”.

And the Boston Globe was similarly scathing, writing, “It’s like a nightmare in which you are trapped in an endless Kmart aisle of horrible holiday cards.”

Mother’s Day is in cinemas now.
