Michael Keaton is set to reprise his role as Batman, almost 30 years since he last appeared on screen as the caped crusader.

The actor’s talent agency confirmed to The Wrap that Keaton will appear as Batman in The Flash, which has just started filming in London.

Ezra Miller will play Flash/Barry Allen in the film, which will also feature Ben Affleck in character as Batman as well.

Keaton has played Batman twice, first in Tim Burton’s 1989 hit Batman and then in 1992’s Batman Returns, which both stream on Binge.

There have been rumours for months that Keaton was going to play the character again in The Flash, but he panicked fans last month when he told Deadline he might not appear in the film due to COVID-19.

“To be honest with you, you know what worries me more than anything about all this stuff? It’s COVID,” Keaton told Deadline. “I’m more concerned. I keep my eye more on the COVID situation in the UK than anything. That will determine everything, and so that’s why I’m living outside the city here on 17 acres, staying away from everybody, because the COVID thing has got me really concerned.

“That’s my first thing about all projects,” Keaton said. “I look at it and go, is this thing going to kill me, literally? And you know, if it doesn’t, then we talk.”

The Flash is set to hit cinemas in November, 2022.
