Lady Gaga has been seen in her full Harley Quinn get-up for the first time on the set of The Joker sequel in New York.

Lady Gaga has been spotted in full Harley Quinn costume while filming in New York City on the set of upcoming sequel Joker: Folie a Deux.

In the scene, the award-winning entertainer, whose real name is Stefani Germanotta, was filmed on the steps of the New York County Supreme Court in downtown Manhattan, reports Page Six.

She was flanked by actors dressed as police, amid a crowd of people. Many of them were seen carrying picket signs like: “Free Joker.”

Gaga, 36, wore a bright red blazer and underneath it was a top with the familiar black-and-white diamonds that are a trademark of Quinn’s usual costume.

The wardrobe also included a black leather miniskirt and black stockings adorned with diamond shapes.

The sequel to the critically acclaimed movie The Joker is being directed by Todd Phillips, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Scott Silver.

The character of Harley Quinn was originally created as comic relief for the villainous Joker.

Her origin story is that she was a psychiatrist at Gotham City’s Arkham Asylum and went by the name Dr Harleen Quinzel.

In the comic books, she develops a relationship with one of her patients, the Joker, and eventually becomes his accomplice and lover.

Gaga is not the first actress to play the shrink-turned-villainess.

Aussie actress Margot Robbie played Quinn in the 2020 film, Harley Quinn: Birds Of Prey.

Joaquin Phoenix is once again reprising his role as Arthur Fleck and The Joker in the sequel with Gaga, along with Zazie Beetz, who will again be playing Sophie Dumond.

Brendan Gleeson and Catherine Keener have been cast in undisclosed roles.

Gaga, who most recently performed at the 2023 Oscars ceremony, first appeared on screen in 2013’s Machete Kills.

She then gained rave reviews and an Academy Award nomination for her role in the 2018 film A Star Is Born, and followed that up with a turn in House Of Gucci.

The singer also garnered acclaim for her appearances in the American Horror Story series, Hotel and Roanoke.

Joker: Folie à Deux is set to be released in October 2024.
