Molly Meldrum has apologised after concerning video footage emerged of the Australian music legend exposing himself at Rod Stewart’s concert in Melbourne.

It’s believed the video, obtained by the Daily Mail Australia, was filmed at Rod Laver Arena on March 15 and showed Meldrum urinating on the ground while watching Stewart perform.

Meldrum’s assistant Alan Evers-Buckland told the Herald Sun the music guru was “embarrassed” and “sorry” about the incident.

“I took Molly along with my mother and a friend who helps with Molly (a paramedic) to the Rod Stewart concert last week,” he said

“We have a dedicated and wonderful team of people that care for Molly.

“Unfortunately you can’t control everything or see everything no matter how dedicated you are or vigilant you are.

“Molly is embarrassed and of course sorry. He has given so much. He needs our love and support.”

It comes two months after the Hey Hey It’s Saturday and Countdown star apologised for mooning the crowd at Sir Elton John’s farewell show at AAMI Park.

The 80-year-old blamed a faulty belt buckle after he gatecrashed the stage and dropped his pants.

Entertainment reporter Peter Ford told 2GB that Meldrum had an acquired brain injury after a nasty fall in 2011.

“He has an acquired brain injury, we have to accept that. That’s the result of the bad fall,” he said.

“Molly’s always been given to sort of odd behaviour but since that fall, which he almost died as a result of, his judgment is impaired.”

Ford said Meldrum needed proper supervision.

“I’m not making excuses for bad behaviour and I do think they’ve got to look at what’s happening when he goes out on these excursions because clearly he is not being supervised enough or he won’t take the supervision or guidance.

“It’s not like he is turning up to these events on his own, there’s always someone with him but for whatever reason they can’t seem to control him once he gets there.”

Ford said Meldrum behaved in a “yucky way” and will be remembered for his “crazy antics” rather than his legendary work.

“He gets over excited and in this case … he has behaved in a really yucky way, he urinated on the dance floor area … someone’s got to clean that up, people don’t want to see that, it’s horrible,” he said.

“This is going to become Molly’s legacy, not the decades of contributing to Australian music.

“These crazy antics, exposing himself and urinating in public, that’s what people will talk about when he is gone.”

Melbourne and Olympic Parks declined to comment about the incident.
