Mia Fevola says she’s afraid to look at phone after months of trolling

Mia Fevola has taken a stand against social media trolls after admitting she “dreads checking her phone” as abusive messages usually await.

Mia Fevola says she no longer checks her phone in the morning because she dreads seeing awful messages.

The 21-year-old businesswoman and make up artist hit out at how trolling and bullying is “normalised”, and could no longer stay silent.

Much of the abuse centres on her relationship with Western Bulldogs’ no. 1 draft pick Jamarra Ugle-Hagan.

“Every single day I wake up to messages like this,’’ Mia posted on Instagram with examples of the vile comments.

“I dread checking my phone because I know what messages and comments await me. I now don’t check my phone in the morning because whenever I do, it ruins my day.

“It’s been months of this, I’m so sick of staying silent and hoping that it will just eventually die off.”

Fevola’s despair comes despite her parents Brendan and Alex calling out the abuse in March when Mia went public with Ugle-Hagan.

“My point is, if you can’t be compassionate, understanding, or even just decent, then be QUIET,’’ Mia wrote on Tuesday.

“You have no idea what somebody could be going through. We have a long way to go as a society. I’m so ashamed of how normalised this bullying is.”

Brendan hit out at those targetting Mia and her dating history with two other AFL players.

On his FOX FM radio show, Fifi, Fev and Nick, Fevola said it hurt as a father.

“Blokes can do whatever they want,’’ he said in March.

“They can go and date girls and no one judges them. It’s a lad thing. But as soon as a girl does it...

“All the trolls that come out and pot people, and the keyboard warriors who are slut shaming my daughter — it’s just not on.”

Fevola’s situation this week comes on the back of Geelong star Mitch Duncan copping abuse on social media after being subbed out of the game with concussion against Gold Coast.

His wife Demi Duncan revealed how they had also received death threats in the past.
