Melbourne Fashion Festival will be staged across multiple locations, including signature runways in some of Melbourne’s iconic cultural destinations, after five years in the Royal Exhibition Building.
The newly renovated State Library will be one of the dramatic backdrops to the parades, which will all be held in locations and venues instead of one big runway as in previous years.
MFF acting CEO Yolanda Finch said runways would be staged in a different location, or within different areas of one, so each had a different backdrop and vibe.
“The whole city and state is our runway backdrop in 2021 and we couldn’t be more excited to show off these incredible venues and places across the 10 days of MFF in March,” she said.
“The State Library of Victoria has just completed a masterful renovation that brings a whole new dimension to the building interior, which has always been serene and majestic, and now blends that historical impression with a contemporary architectural feel that it is the perfect complement to high fashion.”
While capacity will be reduced in comparison to the traditional 1500-strong events, consumers will be able to get a front-row seat to all the new-season trends from leading Australian retailers and designers.
“All our runway venues in 2021 also bring customised dining and entertainment experiences before and after the runway, so we’re looking forward to introducing our guests to what’s on offer at the LaTrobe end of the Hoddle Grid,” Ms Finch says.
