British singer Lily Allen is rocking a fiery new hairstyle – and it’s a dramatic departure from her short and simple signature style.

The British singer debuted her new look on Instagram, swapping her previously orange ‘do for an ultra-long, fiery red extensions.

The 38-year-old showcased her look with a selfie where she posed by the New York subway tracks in a black beanie and red lippie combo that set off her new hair colour. She captioned the photo with an emoji of a mermaid with long red hair.

Allen enlisted the services of NYC-based hair extensions specialist Ester, who shared a video of the singer’s transformation on TikTok.

“When Lily Allen hits you in the dms for a custom Ktip install with custom colour, you gotta answer,” Ester said in a voiceover of her tending to Allen’s hair.

“As a millennial those YouTube music videos raised me and Lily Allen, she was my mother.”

The hairstylist revealed that the makeover was a spur of the moment decision as Allen originally planned to get shoulder-length extensions.

It took a total of 11 hours from start to finish.

“When we met and I started doing the install and she started to see what the length was lengthin’ like … we kind of decided that we were just going to go all-in,” Ester said.

The install proved to be challenging due to the thickness of the star’s hair, taking a total of 11 hours from start to finish.

“I did what I could, but I don’t think either of us were really prepared for the intensity and the complexity of this install,” the stylist explained.

“This was probably the most complex install that I’ve done to date, due to the really short hair and really dense, dense, thick hair that she had.”

However, the result was “wearable art” with Ester concluding her TikTok video with a “Lily Allen, slay” comment.

And viewers agreed with many flooding the comment section with compliments.

“Excuse me?! THE Lily Allen?!” one asked, to which Ester replied: “The ONE and ONLY.”

Allen’s followers were loving her selfie over on Instagram as well.

“This hair and this lip colour?! UNREAL,” one wrote, while another referenced The Little Mermaid, writing: “Ariel could never.”

The new look comes amid ongoing speculation she and husband David Harbour have ended their marriage.

Rumours of a rift between the couple began after Allen seemingly unfollowed the Stranger Things star on Instagram just weeks after celebrating their third wedding anniversary.

But the actor has since rubbished the break-up rumours and assured fans their marriage is “so great”.

“Ultimately, it’s very good because you get to know someone. We have these two kids, and it’s so great,” he told People magazine earlier this month, referring to his stepchildren Ethel, 11 and Marnie, 10, who Allen shares with her ex.

He did admit that the recent actor’s strike in Hollywood had impacted their marriage due to his inability to work.

“We get to raise them and stuff, and as our marriage continues, we grow closer and closer,” he said.

“But, let me tell you, my wife likes when I go to work because it’s nice for her to have her life and me to have my life and for us not to just annoy each other by being around all the time.”
