Kerri-Anne Kennerley’s special I’m A Celeb allowance was always going to ruffle some feathers among her fellow campmates – and in tonight’s episode, MAFS star Domenica Calarco confronts the TV legend.
Kerri-Anne had been asked to appear on I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here! every season since the show’s debut, and always refused until this year she was made an offer she “couldn’t refuse.”
She made sure the contract had a few stipulations – namely, that she be allowed to bring make-up into camp, to keep up her usual glam appearance.
The show made no secret of this before KAK’s arrival at camp in last night’s episode, with her fellow contestants returning to camp to find a new, roped-off bed, complete with two bags filled with make-up products.
In a preview clip for tonight’s episode, fiery former MAFS contestant Dom is first shown complaining about Kerri-Anne’s special treatment to her fellow campmates.
“Why does she think it’s OK that she gets make-up and nobody else does? To me, it’s like if I had something and I sat here eating it in front of everyone and didn’t share. I feel as though there’s a power imbalance there.”
While several of the other contestants urge her not to confront KAK with her concerns, Ian ‘Dicko’ Dickson instead gives her a challenge: “Why don’t you try and find a way of couching that in a way that’s not overly combative and disrespectful.”
Shortly afterwards, Dom sits down with Kerri-Anne at camp and attempts to do just that.
“I was just wondering … how does one get allowed face wash and make-up in the jungle?” she asks.
“Umm, one gets allowed it when one makes it a condition of coming in,” Kennerley explains. “And that was an actual deal-breaker. I know make-up seems like a weird thing as a deal-breaker …”
While viewers will have to wait until tonight’s episode to watch the conversation play out in full, Kennerley was certainly unapologetic when asked about her special make-up clause by news.com.au before entering the jungle last week.
Asked how she’d feel if the other celebs reacted with envy to her special treatment, she gave a shrug and a smile.
“They should just get better management. Not my problem.”
Meanwhile, news.com.au last week got a special look at what life is like for the celebs in the jungle this season - by acting as a contestant stand-in for two days, testing out the trials and challenges of the first two episodes.
I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here! continues 7:30pm tonight on Ten.
