A shocked Kaley Cuoco has broken down in tears in a video posted to Instagram, after finding out some very exciting news.

Kaley Cuoco breaks down over Globes nomination

Kaley Cuoco has been tapped for her first ever Golden Globe award, and to say the actress is thrilled would be an understatement.

The 35-year-old was nominated for Best Actress in a TV Musical or Comedy for her role in HBO’s The Flight Attendant, which streams locally on Binge.

The former Big Bang Theory star shared two clips on Instagram of herself finding out the news, before bursting into tears.

“Oh my god, I can’t believe it,” Cuoco is heard saying to her husband, Karl Cook, who is filming the video.

The dark comedy series, which Cuoco also executive produced through her Yes, Norman Productions company, follows flight attendant Cassie Bowden (Cuoco) who wakes up next to a murdered man she had a one-night stand with, with no memory of how it happened.

The Flight Attendant was also nominated for Best Comedy TV Series.

Cuoco told news.com.au in November she had been looking for the “right project” to come along after wrapping up a 12-year stint as Penny on Big Bang in 2019.

“Any project I was going to choose after Big Bang I knew was going to get a lot of attention, good or bad, no matter what I chose people would have thought it was either a good idea or not,” she said.

“I wasn’t necessarily looking for this sort of drama or character but I knew that the right project … I would know deep in my gut.

“So when I saw the book (of the same name) three years ago I simply thought, ‘Wow, this could be a great character for TV.’

“It wasn’t me trying to get away from Big Bang, or move on – it just felt like the right move. “And the icing on top was I had all these different emotions. I got to play action, adventure, mystery, emotion, but also moments of laughter.”

While she’s jumped the first hurdle in navigating the difficult path away from the iconic Penny, Cuoco said she’ll never be precious when it comes to talking about the role that made her.

“People like to ask me, ‘Oh you must be so excited to get away from Big Bang?’” Cuoco said.

“I absolutely don’t feel that way. Every job I get, I owe to Big Bang. I feel strongly that way because it changed my life. I wouldn’t be here without it, so it would be crazy for me to shy away from it.

“I’m so proud of that show and what we did.”
