MODEL Simone Holtznagel has hit back at Melbourne radio host Mick Molloy after he labelled her plus-size and likened her to a “baby elephant”.
But the 24-year-old former Australia’s Next Top Model contestant refused to take his controversial comments personally.
“It is really disappointing,” Holtznagel told News Corp after being voted off I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here!
“Being a model, people talk about the way I look all the time, but sit down Mick Molloy. I’m lucky that I’m really strong and confident and sure of myself and I have a really great support network. I know who I am and I don’t feel the need to make comments like that about other people.”
If she came face-to-face with Molloy, Holtznagel would say, “Bad form Mick.”
Holtznagel’s departure leaves four celebrities vying for the title of king or queen of the jungle — comedian Fiona O’Loughlin, British reality star Vicky Pattison, boxer Danny Green and singer Shannon Noll — ahead of Monday night’s season finale.
It has been a week of eliminations each night with Holtznagel’s exit preceded by Peter Rowsthorn, Jackie Gillies, Josh Gibson and Paul Burrell.
While Gibson and Gillies accused celebrities of “playing the game”, they wouldn’t name anyone. Holtznagel, however, was more forthcoming.
“Danny Green is playing the game in the jungle,” she said. “I think Danny knows Pete and Fi are fan favourites, so I think he gravitated towards them in the hope of furthering himself.”
Speaking about her own experience on the show, the face of brands including Guess and Bras N Things, said: “I know I have always been quite resilient, so I guess that has been reiterated. But I am a lot stronger than I thought.”
