Hulk Hogan’s death ‘to spark’ $38m family feud

Hulk Hogan’s wife is set to be granted a considerable slice of his massive fortune, which could spark a bitter family feud.

Hulk Hogan’s wife is set to be granted a third of his massive fortune, which could spark a bitter feud between his widower, ex-wives and his children in the wake of his shock death.

The wrestling superstar passed away this week, aged 71 amid an outpouring of tributes from the millions and millions he entertained.

However, Hogan’s death and the make up of his will could set off a family feud among his three wives and even his estranged daughter.

Hogan and his third wife, yoga instructor and accountant Sky Daily were only married for two years before his sad passing. But under Florida law, Daily, 49, is guaranteed 30 per cent of Hulk Hogan’s estate – said to be valued at around $US25 million ($38.1m)

That means Daily would be entitled to around $12.7m.

According to reports, Hogan owned a US$11.5m mansion in Clearwater Florida, multiple business, investments and cash accounts.

The US Sun reported Hogan set up a revocable trust and a personal trust before he passed away.

Florida legal expert June Fredricksen, from Shofner Law Firm, told the US Sun that Hogan likely had “very in-depth estate planning”.

“You set up a trust to protect your assets, so you run everything through the trust,” she said.

The trust is set up with the aim of avoiding an estate ending up in court, and working out where assets need to go and if creditors can collect from it.

It’s now known if or how Daily was included in the trusts. Either way she is set to get a large cut of Hulk’s wealth.

Hulk married Sky two years ago, so he probably updated the trust so she would get a spousal elective share,” Fredricksen said.

“Even if Sky was left out of his estate and he didn’t update his trust since they married, she would still get a spousal elective share, which she is entitled to 30 per cent in Florida.”

According to Florida law, a surviving spouse has the right to an ‘elective share’ of a deceased spouse’s estate, which is around 30 per cent of the ‘elective estate’ even if the will or trust says otherwise.

This is aimed at ensuring the surviving spouse isn’t disinherited.

The elective estate includes assets such as real estate, stocks, bank accounts and retirement plans.

Hogan’s businesses included Hogan’s Beach Shop which was opened in 2013 and is said to still be a rather profitable enterprise, his restaurant Hogan’s Hangout at Clearwater Beach and Real American Beer, a project his launched last year.

Hogan appeared in a number of movies, alongside his successful wrestling career and could still have been picking up cheques from both before he died.

But things could turn nasty if Hogan’s trusts were not kept up to date. If assets were not rolled into the trusts of if there is a contest over what is directed in the trusts themselves.

That may result in a battle over his will and estate ending up in the estate court.

If a relative or anyone who feels they should have access to the estate is left out, they could contest it before a judge.

Hogan notoriously fell out with his daughter Brooke Hogan. The pair were estranged for several years and the WWE star had never met his twin grand kids Oliver and Molly Gene who were born earlier this year.

Brooke could contest the estate in court if she was left out and if the estate does end up in court the assets could also become susceptible to creditors.

Hogan was married twice prior to his union with Daily.

His first wife was Linda Claridge, with whom he shared children Brooke, 35 and Nick 32.

Hogan and Claridge divorced in 2009 after 26 years together.

The next year Hogan married makeup artist Jennifer McDaniel. They divorced in 2021.
