House of the Dragon teen star ‘concerned’ about sex scene with 49-year-old actor

Actress Emily Carey, 19, had a sex scene with her co-star, 49, in the latest episode of House of the Dragon. And now she’s revealed her feelings about it.

House of the Dragon actress Emily Carey has admitted she was “scared” to film a sex scene with her much older co-star.

The 19-year-old British actress, who plays Alicent Hightower in the HBO series, had a confronting intimate scene in the fourth episode, which is now streaming on Binge.

The moment saw Alicent being summoned to bed by her husband King Viserys Targaryen, who is played by 49-year-old actor Paddy Considine, before they have sex.

Emily Carey was just 17 when she landed the role of Alicent, and 18 when the show began filming.

“It scared me because, at that point, I still hadn’t met Paddy,” Carey told Newsweek.

“I didn’t know how much of a joy he was and how easy he was going to make the scene.

“The first scene that I read from the show was my sex scene and my intimacy scenes. All I saw was, you know, a 47-year-old man and me, I was a bit concerned.”

Carey said she felt at ease thanks to an intimacy co-ordinator on-set, which in recent years has become a much more ubiquitous position on sets.

“Having that outlet, to be able to talk everything through and not be shunned, or not feel awkward,” she added.

“In the rehearsal room, she was a massive help and on set she was a massive help. It was a lot easier than I thought it was going to be.”
