Heath Shaw says he “cracked the sh..s” and bowed out, but he’s proud of his efforts on SAS Australia.
The former AFL star said he pushed himself more than he thought was possible before reaching his limit on Monday night.
“There was no doubt in my mind the tears would flow,’’ he said.
“I was fully cooked and it was just a build up. I cracked the shits and I was done.
“It’s funny because people say could you have gone further but I actually did. Just to get through that tunnel on day two was huge for me.
“It wasn’t about winning but your own battle. It’s me versus me.
“To get to day 10, I was pretty pumped.”
Shaw said doing the brutal military style show was the toughest but most rewarding experience of his life.
He said Wayne Carey, a contestant in the next season which just started filming, had contacted him for advice.
“I spoke to Wayne, he asked me a few things and I gave him a few pointers,’’ Shaw said.
“I didn’t watch the series and I went in blindly which wasn’t a bad thing. But no one knows what they’re going to get.
“I said be prepared for anything.”
Shaw said he wouldn’t seeing a boxing battle between Carey and Barry Hall, another former AFL player who is part of the next series.
“Barry can fight but Wayne is no slouch — I could very much see that happening,’’ Shaw said.
