As well as extending his long-time worldwide recording deal with Sony Music, the chart topper has launched a joint venture with Sony.

Sebastian will be at the helm of the as-yet-unnamed label, with the mission to discover and develop talent across the country.

“I feel immensely grateful that we are now able to establish my own label as I feel it is so important at this stage of my career to nurture and develop other creatives,” Sebastian said. “This is something I am passionate about, I find immeasurably rewarding, and it also makes me so happy.”

Sebastian signed to Sony in 2003 after winning Australian Idol, his most recent album T.R.U.T.H reached No. 1 last year.

He has now had six ARIA No. 1 singles and three chart topping albums, with over 720 million streams worldwide.

“Guy Sebastian is an exceptionally talented and a wonderful person,” Sony Music Chairman Denis Handlin said.

“18 years after first joining the company, Guy’s is in the prime of his career and his most recent album is the best to date. We are proud and honoured to extend our partnership so that we can continue to take his career to even greater heights. We are also thrilled to launch a new label with Guy that will uncover and foster a new generation of Australian talent. Guy’s music will endure for decades with many more exciting opportunities and special magic moments to come.”

Sony already have a label, The House of Oz, with Delta Goodrem to release her music and find new talent.

Sebastian is currently filming the Channel 7 reboot of The Voice, which is due to air later this year and start his arena tour in November.

The musician, who turns 40 this year, said he is ready to have the vaccine to help the return of live music.

“Get that thing into me when it’s my turn,” Sebastian told News Corp this month.

“Everyone’s entitled to choose what goes into their body, but I’ve had so many vaccines in my life, even when I travel through Asia on tour, I’ve always trusted the process, trusted the science.

“We’re pretty fortunate here with how stringent our drug regulations are and the process it goes through. They can stick that thing in my neck if it means I can be on the road again and have my band playing again!”
