Twenty thousand Taylor Swift fans have tried to secure a spot at Crown Melbourne’s dedicated merchandise store – and 17,000 were left disappointed.

The rush for online bookings came ahead of the stores’s opening on Tuesday morning.

Swifties prepared to give up a portion of their life savings for their dose of Tay Tay gear booked out the pop-up store in 15 minutes with a predicted 3000 people getting in.

Those fortunate enough to book a spot can fork out $50 for a Tote bag with Swift’s face on it, or $120 for one of her tour sweaters.

An Australian tour poster costs $40, a plastic water bottle is also $40 and a tour T-shirt is $65.

According to Crown, during the week of Swift’s highly anticipated concerts, foot traffic in and around the hotel is set to sky rocket by at least 70 per cent.

But contrastingly, many are planning on avoiding Melbourne during the mayhem week of Taylor’s landing – some even deciding to avoid the city altogether by working from home.

For Swifities awaiting their idol’s arrival, this upcoming week is one of extreme excitement and anticipation – months spent waiting, now with less than a week to go.

And for those who missed out on Crown’s merchandise sale, the MCG is also holding pre-sale merchandise days between Wednesday and Thursday, from 10am to 6pm near Gate 1 and 5.

Reservations are not required, but turning up early is a must if you want to secure a purchase.

Items are also up for grabs on concert days, opening from 12pm but stock will be limited.
