When Pip Edwards was front and centre at the opening of Melbourne’s flagship Ksubi store in the CBD recently something felt afoot.
Maybe it was the big grin on Ksubi’s Melbourne-based chief executive officer Craig King’s face when the Herald Sun asked him about her presence at the Little Bourke St store opening also marking the label’s foray and push back into the Australian market.
But in Edwards own words it is a “full circle” moment for the PE Nation co-founder who on
Thursday announced she will step in as creative director for the cult Aussie denim label.
Since announcing her shock departure as creative director from her PE activewear label just weeks ago, following a standout solo show and rebrand at Australian Fashion Week earlier this year, there has been much chatter as to what the incredibly talented Edwards would do next.
But she is going back to her roots, quite literally, with the 44-year-old influencer, socialite and headline maker returning to Ksubi where she first made her start into the Australian fashion space two decades ago.
“From its inception, Ksubi has been at the core of the global cultural zeitgeist, thriving at the intersection of where fashion, art, and music meet,” Edwards wrote on Instagram, alongside a picture of her and chief executive King, while they are currently in New York promoting the brand.
“Having been part of the original crew 20 years ago, I’m so excited to join the talented team at Ksubi once again and contribute to their already impressive global success.”
Edwards first joined the Australian denim brand, then known as Tsubi, in 2004 as the secretary for her then-boyfriend, Ksubi co-founder Dan Single, the former couple welcomed their son, Justice, in 2006.
Edwards who said at the Ksubi launch she likes to call Melbourne her second home, has since become a fashion force in the Australian retail industry.
