The father-son legacy at Geelong Cats appears to be in safe hands with premiership captain Joel Selwood and wife Brit celebrating the safe arrival of their second boy.
Already parents to toddler Joey, the former first couple of the Cats took to social media on Friday to announce the happy news in a joint statement.
“Our family just got brighter,” the beaming parents wrote, sharing two black and white images proudly showing off the adorable bub and their first photo as a family-of-four.
“Alfie Roy Selwood you are so loved by Mumma, Dadda & Joey.”
The pair, who previously opened up about their fertility struggles after learning they were unable to concieve naturally, revealed in June that they were expecting their second child.
Speaking with the Herald Sun last May, the then-first time parents beamed as they craddled their first baby boy after enduring numerous heartbreaking IVF cycles and miscarriages.
“It was a good nearly three years of trying. We finally got there; so many people out there who are on the IVF journey, it’s not a nice thing to go through, and I sympathise with everyone on that journey at the moment. It’s not easy, you go through many different stages and it really is a rollercoaster,” Brit said.
“I was always pretty positive and thought we would get there, but there were some tough times in that period, too.”
“We are quite private. There are a lot of people who do like sharing their journey and a lot of people who are going through IVF really benefit from hearing other people’s stories. I know I did at the time but I wasn’t strong enough to share my story. And I just wanted to deal with those moments by myself and with Joel.”
The couple, who married in January 2020, were flooded with well wishes after revealing the happy news.
