Victorian MP Georgie Purcell has delivered an epic social media slapdown to trolls who bombard her accounts with derogatory comments on her exotic dancing past.
Purcell gave it back to the naysayers and social media snipers wanting to use her past against her by posting a series of photos of herself pole dancing.
Purcell, who holds the seat of Northern Victoria for the Animal Justice Party, is open about her time as a striptease artist and pole dancer and while it does not worry her, it seems her detractors – particularly those with an interest in blood sports – see it as something to criticise or demean her over.
“The duck shooters are back with their VERY compelling and not at all misogynistic arguments about keeping their blood sport in Victoria,” Purcell said while posting a selection of ugly comments that had been left on her social media platforms to Instagram.
“It’s ahead of our final inquiry report being tabled in parliament next week.
“Here’s just a selection of what I’ve seen the past few days.
“When are you going to pick up on that I’m not ashamed of my past babes, and a decade later, I am still on the pole. Xo”
The post was illustrated with a series of photos of Purcell doing various athletic moves wearing a leotard in a pole dancing studio.
It was a clapback of seismic proportions.
Some of the troll comments Purcell, the youngest woman in the Victorian Parliament, highlighted in her post included “wasn’t she a stripper or something? Maybe best stick to what she knows”, “This is what society has become … a stripper is going to bring to an end duck hunting in Victoria!!!”, “Glorified pole dance that is all”, and references to her as a “b*tch” and a “h*****”.
Judging by Purcell’s clap back, the vile comments are water off a duck’s back and thousands of people liked her post.
