Tennis star Nick Kyrgios reveals retirement and baby plans with influencer partner Costeen Hatzi

Nick Kyrgios has spoken of his tennis retirement and baby plans, suggesting if he wins a grand slam he may retire “straight away”.

Nick Kyrgios has spoken of his plans to start a family and the impact his fame has had on his influencer partner Costeen Hatzi.

Kyrgios has credited Hatzi, 22, with improving his game in the 13 months that they have been dating while opening up about his plans for life after tennis and the timeline he is working towards on The JBK Show podcast

“I see my future with her,” Kyrgios said.

“Her life has been flipped upside down since we started dating.

“It is a hard lifestyle. I told her ‘look, your life is going to change drastically’.

“She didn’t quite understand to what extent. We were in Tokyo, I was playing in Tokyo (and) one hundred fans were lining up to take a photo with her whilst I am playing, so her global platform is growing.

“She is making some good money now. It is all good, we definitely bounce off each other.”

Kyrgios admitted his hard partying off court in his younger days was catching up with him.

“At this time in my career, I am 28, I am probably getting into the later stages of my career,” he told the podcast.

“I did not look after my body as well as I would have liked to earlier on - a lot of abuse like drugs, alcohol, all that type of stuff.

“I alway told myself I did not want to play past 30. I felt like I wanted to have a kid by then, for sure.

“My body is sore. Every time I wake up I am in some serious pain.

“So, I want to be able to walk when I have kids, I want to be able to play and be active.

“So look, I say three years, but it could be two. If I win a grand slam it could be just straight away retirement.

“If I won a singles grand slam I would probably retire .. go out on top.”

Kyrgios said Hatzi doesn’t get upset when he blows his stack at his player box during high pressure games.

“It is pretty easy when you are getting 20K gifts for her,” he said of finding forgiveness for those outbursts.

“Everyone in that box knows I would do anything for them.”

Finding a supportive partner had resulted in him playing better tennis.

“I genuinely feel that she cares for my best interests, everything is just easy, she gets it,” he said.

“She has seen how much scrutiny I am under everyday, how much sh*t I deal with.

“She always makes sure I am good and I never really had that before, to be honest. I feel like no matter if I win or lose she understands that I am really hard on myself.

“She has definitely elevated my tennis.”
