Cricketing great Shane Warne is putting his own spin on the smell of success with the launch of his first fragrance.
Warne has spent the past year working on his signature scent, SW23, which he says exudes sophistication, sensuality and warmth.
“I have always prided myself on smelling nice,” Warne said.
“I think there are two things people will never forget about you, one is if you have nice manners and two is if you smell nice.
“I’ve had some good feedback from women, they seem to like this.
“People will notice you wearing it and they will comment on how wonderful you smell.
“It creates conversation and will make you feel happy, confident and sophisticated.”
Warne revealed he had resisted previous offers from various companies keen to bottle his scent, until approached by Chemist Warehouse.
He said he had been involved in the creation of SW23, which features top notes of fresh bergamot, mandarin leaf and cardamom and bold base notes of Indonesian patchouli, birch wood and oak moss, from “start to finish.”
“I chose all my favourite fragrances and gave them to Chemist Warehouse explaining what I liked and didn’t like,” he said.
“Then from New York they sent me 12 little samples and over the course of a month I walked around and travelled with them and worked out what worked and what didn’t.
“They took all that feedback and came up with the finished product.
“I am really proud of it and hopefully it will be the first of many I can do with Chemist Warehouse.”
The name SW23 is a combination of his initials and the number 23 which he wore during his cricket career and while playing Under 19s for the St Kilda Football Club.
Warne said profits from sales of SW23 would go to Melbourne-based children’s charity My Room.
“It has been such a tough time for charities and My Room does such a great job so we thought this would be a good way to show support and hopefully raise a lot of money,” he said.
SW23 by Shane Warne, $49.99, launches at Chemist Warehouse in-store and online from Friday, August 7, 2020.
