Much loved actor and stage performer Rob Mills is engaged.
Mills popped the question to journalist Georgie Tunny while on a road trip to Sydney in the lead up to the new year.
“Best road trip of my life. I asked this girl to be my wife,” Mills wrote on social media.
“Happy New Year everyone. Hope you learnt some new skills throughout the last few years. Went deeper. Loved harder. Listened more. It’s worth it.
“Had a few beers with a mate the other day.
“He offered up some advice about marriage… “Give.” That was it. Simple.
“I’m gonna give it a go. Cause she’s worth it.”
The couple met in 2018 after Mills messaged Tunny on social media.
“One morning in 2018 I flicked on the television to ABC News Breakfast and went “Who is that?!” She was beautiful and articulate. I needed to know her,” Mills said in 2020 profile.
“I sent her a direct message on Instagram, which opened with, ‘I promise I’m not crazy’.”
The pair got to know each other through ‘sober dating’, daytime coffee catch ups owing to them working at different ends of the day - Tunny was appearing on breakfast TV and Mills performing in musical theatre.
“Most people who are getting together go on dinner dates and have beers or share a bottle of wine,” he said.
“Our dating was mostly going to the [Melbourne Botanical] gardens or the [South Melbourne] markets. I would highly recommend sober daytime dating to anyone.”
