Reality TV star Justin Lacko slapped with driving ban

A Love Island and I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! contestant has had his driver’s licence cancelled after blowing twice the legal limit.

I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here! star Justin Lacko has had his licence cancelled after being caught drink-driving at more than twice the legal limit.

Lacko, who also appeared on Love Island, blew 0.114 when police pulled over his Honda Civic at a 7-Eleven in Doveton on October 18, 2020.

The reality TV star appeared in the Dandenong Magistrates’ Court via video link on Monday facing one charge of drink-driving.

“At approximately 8.30pm the accused was observed … travelling north on Power Road, Doveton at a high rate of speed,” the police statement read. “The accused has entered a 7-Eleven service station at Power Road and Heatherton Road, where he was intercepted.”

Lacko, 30, was breathalysed and taken to the Narre Warren police station for an evidentiary breath test.

Lacko’s reality TV career would seem to have stalled after his stints on I’m A Celebrity, where he declared himself to be a “Kangatarian”, and Love Island.

He told the court he works as a concreter and model.

Lacko also appeared on Love Island.

Magistrate Brian Clifford said he had no choice but to cancel Lacko’s licence.

“That is a fair sort of reading, 0.114. You had had a fair few drinks, hadn’t you?” Magistrate Clifford said.

Asked if he had anything to say about his drink-driving Lacko said: “I don’t know, nothing except sorry, I guess.”

He later asked, “Do I have to have one of those breathalysers in my car.”

Lacko pleaded guilty and had his licence cancelled for 11 months backdated to October 18, 2020. He will be eligible to get behind the wheel again from September 18, 2021.
