“With heavy hearts we regret to inform you that Morris Jones has been forced to close its doors,” a statement on the Morris Jones Instagram read.

“This has been a heartbreaking decision and not one taken lightly.

“The hospitality industry is facing unprecedented challenges and it has become incredibly difficult to sustain business in this current climate. We are all deeply saddened by this situation.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our loyal customers for their love and support over the journey.”

Burbank, a Melbourne hospitality identity, gained notoriety for fudging documents to travel to Perth during the Covid lockdown to watch his beloved Demons win the 2021 AFL Grand Final. He spent three months in prison in WA for his actions.

Burbank stepped away from operating the Morris Jones business following the Covid Grand Final drama, but remained a shareholder in the company that traded as Morris Jones & Co.
