Popular sports commentators David Schwarz and Mark Allen have been left without a show after the pin was pulled on their 3AW weekend program The Twilight Zone.
The show, which has been a fixture for years on weekends on 3AW between 5pm and 7pm in the AFL off season, should be going into its summer programming run as of this weekend, however a sudden change has seen the show disappear.
“The summer series of The Twilight Zone is not on this year. David and Mark are aware of this,” a Nine spokesperson said on Friday.
It is understood the highly accomplished commentators are under contract with AW until early next year and will continue to be heard on their regular spots across many of the station’s programs.
Allen made a real connection with listeners when filling in for Russel Howcroft in the all conquering breakfast shift alongside Ross Stevenson earlier this year, and Schwarz is an authoritative and respected voice on sport, particularly AFL.
They are a terrific radio pair. That change to the AW schedule was done with little fanfare.
AW announced this week a new addition to its footy line up with Jacqui Felgate joining the station’s footy commentary and analysis team next year.
Felgate will join the established team of big names including Matthew Lloyd, Jimmy Bartel, Leigh Matthews, Caroline Wilson and Tim Lane.
The Wide World of Sports program, hosted by Sam McClure, will launch on AW on Wednesday, November 2 at 6.00pm.
