Melbourne songwriter and producer Michael Cristiano has paid tribute to frontline workers around Australia with a song that expresses heartfelt thanks for their work.

Cristiano co-wrote the track, titled Forever Grateful, with Raffaella Fox after he was asked by a friend working at Melbourne hospital if he could write a song that would celebrate the commitment and sacrifice of those protecting, helping and supporting the wider community.

“It is a song of gratitude for those on the front line. It is not an anthem or anything, I am not soapboxing, I am really just saying, ‘thank you, this is a hard gig you are doing and if it was not for you we would be in a lot of trouble, so thank you’,” Cristiano said.

“It is important for people to understand the catalyst for this was the front line health workers, but the song is really dedicated to not only the medical profession, but to the police, the paramedics, and the first responders. It is really dedicated to everybody.”

Cristiano said he gained further inspiration when working on the song from the Herald Sun.

“The Herald Sun really sparked me off with that amazing front page ‘Salute Our Heroes’. “When I saw that front page I thought, ‘Wow’.”

Forever Grateful is released by Sony Music and is available on all major streaming platforms.
